The ISUMA Project

The ISUMA Project unites art, technology and mental health to battle the tragic suicide epidemic of Indigenous Arctic communities through immersive, interactive art experiences.

As Danish-Greenlander with Inuit roots, I am personally tied to the
Arctic suicide epidemic and is committed to using art to help vulnerable individuals.

Curated by Nikolaj Kunsthal, the project will exhibit interactive artworks in Copenhagen and Nuuk, inviting participants to engage with artworks that respond to their movements, fostering a sense of empowerment and self-expression. Through measuring emotional and physiological responses, the project aims to explore how these experiences can help combat mental illness and reduce suicide rates.

At The IT University of Copenhagen’s AIR Lab, the project will conduct groundbreaking research at the intersection of art, technology, and mental health, with a focus on empowering vulnerable youths and minorities locally and globally.
